Angelina Jolie: Then & Now - 1

1988
Attending the Oscars – just another day for a 13-year-old, right? Ange cosied up to her acting legend father Jon Voight and pre-bleach, brother James on the Academy Awards’ red carpet; who knew she’d be treading the carpet under her own steam in just 10 years? Of course, before that, Angelina had a little rebelling to do…

1993
…At 14, she dropped out of acting classes and dreamed of becoming a funeral director, wearing only black, dying her hair purple and spending all her free time moshing with her live-in boyfriend. Go Ange. After her teenage kick of a relationship came to an end two years later, Ange took up modelling and even featured in music videos from the likes of Meatloaf and Lenny Kravitz, before the call of the acting world drew her back to Tinseltown.

1997
After starring in her first fully-fledged Hollywood picture, Hackers (GREAT film, just by the way) Angelina met Brit actor Jonny Lee Miller and married him a year later, in black rubber pants and a white shirt – with his name written in blood on it, no less. During this era, the starlet sported a very cute pixie crop, pale skin and muted, cool-toned make-up.

January 1998
Walking the red carpet at the 1998 Golden Globes, Angie's look was pure 90s with lots of blue eye shadow and a smart slicked-down pixie crop.

January 1999
Now party to an amicable divorce from first love Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina was beginning to break her way into young Hollywood’s acting elite with roles in The Bone Collector and Pushing Tin – where she met soon-to-be next husband, Billy Bob Thornton. The actress was still sporting the "pale and interesting" look, with ivory powdered skin and subtle, barely-there eye make-up but now flaunted a full-bodied, berry-hued bob.

February 1999
Could Angelina look anymore like she’d stumbled off the set of a Vampire flick? With her icy white skin, red-tinged eyes, subtly stained über-pout and silky strawberry-blonde curls, Ms Jolie was more fright night than Oscar night.

August 1999
Flirting with full-on blonde for the first time in anticipation of her role as sociopathic Lisa in the fantastic Girl, Interrupted. Within weeks Angelina had become the critics’ darling and the role earned three trophies during Awards season. Including the coveted Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

February 2001
Ah-ha, we spy a Hollywood make-over underway. On the Golden Globes red carpet, Angelina looked sun kissed and glowing. The beautiful starlet swept her locks back into an elegant up-do and flirted with shimmering oyster shades on her lids and lips. But in a defiant act of rebellion becoming to the unconventional actress, Ange also showed off her new Billy Bob tattoo: the pair were now in all-weird, all-eccentric, I-love-you-so-much-I-could-bite-you marital bliss, and often proved their devotion by sporting vials of each-others' blood as necklaces. Yup. That actually happened.

July 2001
BAAAAH! Although turns out, this wig was just for a role. Angelina Jolie went platinum blonde (badly) on the set of indie flick, Life, Or Something Like It.

August 2001
Now enjoying the benefits of a little fake tan, Angelina looked sunkissed and radiant on the BAFTAs red carpet in 2001. With barely a scrap of make-up and a simple half-up, half-down 'do, her natural beauty was finally give the chance to shine through.

May 2003
Looking more like the Angelina we know and love, the actress showcased a flawless, radiant complexion and lengthy black locks in her signature half-up, half-down style and feline flicked eyes at the Hollywood premiere of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

May 2003
Looking more like the Angelina we know and love, the actress showcased a flawless, radiant complexion, lengthy black locks in her signature half-up, half-down style and feline-esque flicked eyes at the Hollywood premiere of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. In her personal life, Angelina had divorced Billy Bob Thornton by now but she’d gained a son in seven-month-old, Cambodian-born Maddox – her first (of many) gorgeous children.

February 2004
Angelina looke sultry and sexy on the Oscars red carpet with Egyptian-style flicked eyes and a peachy pout.

September 2004
In town to promote her latest flick, the animated feature Shark Tale, Ange ditched the black, sporting pretty floral satin with honey-hued hair and a coral gloss.

October 2004
Looking pretty darn amazing with that delicately higlighted new 'do, we loved this messy up-do look on Angelina.

January 2005
But pretty soon she was sexing it up again, sporting black leather, dark locks and smouldering, smoky eyes for the world premiere of that movie, Mr & Mrs Smith. Within days, Ange was involved in a well-publicized Hollywood love triangle with a well-known Friend and a certain Brad Pitt.

June 2005
Six months later though and the pictures were everywhere. Brad and Ange were papped playing on a beach with her son Maddox – and the press were now dubbing the duo "Brangelina". On the red carpet though and Angie was continuing to change up her look with on-trend, highlighted and tousled tresses and a neon, matte lip.

October 2005
Going for classic and elegant at a United Nations Association annual dinner in New York. Brad and Ange had yet to confirm their relationship but Angelina did let slip that she was planning to adopt again – this time, a little girl; nine-month-old Zahara from Ethiopia. What she didn't let slip, however, was that she was expecting a mini Jolie-Pitt as well!

November 2006
Angelina Jolie gave birth to daughter Shiloh in May 2006. Here, she was snapped on a Humanitarian trip to India, where she spent time with Sikh Afghan and Myanmar refugees in-between filming for her latest role, A Mighty Heart.

January 2007
Opting for her fail-safe method of graphic eyeliner and a nude pout for her first red carpet appearance on the arm of Brad Pitt, Angelina also showed off her new tattoos. With the "Billy Bob" one long gone, the actress now sports the geographical coordinates of the birth places of her children.
